TEASED: Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster Is Coming

Teaser / 7 Comments

It arrives in just over two months.

The Hennessey brand is very well-known for its mammoth performance upgrades and styling packages. The American tuner has created monsters like a 6x6 Ram TRX and offers a number of tuning solutions for Mustangs. But it doesn't only enhance the creations of other automakers and has been hard at work developing its Venom F5 hypercar as it prepares to challenge for the title of World's Fastest Production Car. The spectacular machine is sure to upset the established order, but the opportunity to purchase one has come and passed, as all examples are now sold out. Fortunately, there is some good news: those who missed out on the coupe can now get ready for a roadster version.

Hennessey has posted a teaser image of the new roadster, announcing that the drop-top version will arrive with the same 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 'Fury' engine that is fitted to the coupe. With 1,817 horsepower on tap (Hennessey reached out to say their post had a typo), the new addition to the range is sure to attract a lot of interest. Hennessey first hinted at a roadster model in May 2019, and because the Hennessey-designed carbon-fiber tub (which is produced by Delta Motorsport in Silverstone, England) was always designed to allow a roadster configuration, we expect that the roofless version will not take very long to develop. Of course, development of the coupe needs to be completed first.

Hennessey Performance will reveal the new variant to the public on August 9, 2022, but has not yet announced how many examples will be made or what they will cost, but with just 24 of the coupe being produced at a retail cost of $1.6 million, the Venom F5 Roadster is likely to be just as scarce and expensive, if not more so. For the coupe, 0-60 mph is expected to take under three seconds and top speed is targeted at 311 mph. If Hennessey can come close to replicating those figures, the Roadster will be the fastest in the world, beating its 265-mph predecessor, the Venom GT Spyder.
