Could this be a Tesla Model 3 fighter?
Last month we learned of Infiniti's plans to reveal a supposed sedan flagship concept at Detroit in January. Few details were given then, only that it wouldn't be the typical three-box sedan design. Today, Infiniti has released the first teaser image of this concept, stating it "represents the first manifestation of a new Infiniti form language," courtesy of newly appointed design boss Karim Habib. That's really all we know about it, other than the fact it'll be painted white. Heck, Infiniti didn't even announce its name.
Fortunately, we do have a few clues aside from the likelihood that it's a sedan. The automaker says the concept is a shift towards smarter, more compact and less intrusive powertrains (so, an EV?). Habib adds that he and his team were "able to create an alternative form with flowing gestures, more engaging in character and more enriching in experience. With its long cabin, balanced proportions and muscular stance, the concept heralds in a new era for Infiniti models." Our best guess for now is this unnamed concept will be a four-door coupe with an EV powertrain. The last time Infiniti had a sedan concept was the Q80 Inspiration (pictured here), but that never made production.
That was back in 2014 and things are different today in that automakers have recognized that batteries are the future powertrain, so we wouldn't be surprised to learn this concept could be Infiniti's future Tesla Model 3 fighter.
