The new 2012 Subaru XV crossover is making its incredibly slow reveal before Frankfurt last even longer. Today we received a photo of the rear of the new crossover. The Japanese automaker has based their new crossover on the Impreza and it could eventually make its way into the American market as the Impreza Sport Outback's replacement. It will be equipped with Subaru's new 2.0-liter flat 4-cylinder engine coupled with a CVT transmission.

We have previously only seen sketches of the new model and in concept form earlier this year at its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. The teaser shot shows the XV staying true to its concept predecessor (also pictured) with similar design lines all the way down to its new wheels. The 2012 Subaru XV crossover will debut in a few weeks at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto show and enter production by the end of this year.
