A few days ago, we reported that Lamborghini had something exciting planned for this week. The Italian automaker didn't give too much away, though, beyond a single, obscure teaser image shared on social media, a time, and the hashtag #AheadOfItsTime.

We speculated that this was likely the buildup to the reveal of the Lamborghini Sian Roadster, its first production hybrid roadster. Now, it seems pretty clear this is the case based on a new teaser image from Lamborghini's website, which shows half of the rear of the car, taillights ablaze, and painted in blue.

In the image, we can see the triple hexagonal-shaped lighting elements that are clearly from the Sian coupe. Also visible is the same shape for the high-mounted tailpipe. It's above the taillights that things get more interesting, though, with intricate body elements where the coupe simply has flat surfacing. This is likely to accommodate the roadster's roof mechanism.

The Sian Roadster should share the same powertrain as the coupe, which means it'll use a combination of the phenomenal 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 boosted with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for a total output of 819 horsepower. It should accelerate with similar ferocity, too; the coupe shoots from 0-62 mph in only 2.8 seconds.

All in all, it should be one of the most dramatic new Lamborghinis to date alongside the SCV12 which is also under development, although that will be a track-only hypercar. Even in a lineup that includes extreme machines like the Huracan and Aventador S, the Sian coupe still stands out with its thoroughly futuristic design. The roadster should expand on those elements even further.

If you don't want to miss the action, you don't have to wait much longer than a few hours. The unveiling will be taking place online at 12 pm EST today.
