Teens Attempt To Steal Hellcats And Crash Almost Immediately

Thieves just can't handle 707 horsepower.

Early last Friday morning, a dealership in St. Peters Missouri had four vehicles stolen from its lot. Three of the vehicles from Napleton Mid Rivers Dodge were Hellcats. The incident took place at around 1:30 a.m. when three teenagers attempted to steal the vehicles. Among the four, two where Challenger Hellcats and one was a Charger Hellcat. In an interview with Fox, St. Peters Police Officer Melissa Doss said that "They lost control of them fairly easily. They made it less than a mile." The three were caught after a short foot chase.

Two of the three thieves will be facing numerous charges including burglary, while one is being charged in juvenile court. Police were able to recover three of the four stolen vehicles, although two of the Hellcats have been totaled. Frank Schaffer, general manager of the dealership said that "It's going to take several months before Chrysler will give me allocation to replace them." He currently has one Hellcat left at the dealership, so he says it is quite special now. The thieves were spotted when a dealership employee happened to be driving by and saw car lights. He quickly called the police and the thieves were eventually caught.

We're not surprised these delinquents couldn't handle a car with more than 700 horsepower. Especially when they're first course of action was to try and make a quick getaway. Police are currently investigating why the teens, who are from the Kansas City area, drove all the way to this dealership to steal the cars. Officer Doss said that "it's not out of the ordinary for criminals to come from other towns to break the law."
