"Don't worry, honey. I'll get us there on time."
Sometimes you can’t get everything you want. For example, Hennessey Performance’s 1,000 hp+ Challenger SRT Hellcat. Pricing aside, the big coupe may not be suitable for the family man who requires a sedan. But now there’s a solution: the Hennessey Charger SRT Hellcat. Hennessey’s latest, like its coupe sibling, benefits from twin-turbocharging that increases total output to 1,032 hp and 987 lb-ft of torque. This setup works in conjunction with the factory supercharger.
Not in the least bit surprising, owners will be required to use 93 octane premium fuel. The turbo headers and downpipes are made of stainless steel. To deal with all of that extra power (325, to be exact), Hennessey’s crew added an improved fuel pump, high-flow fuel injectors, a high-flow-air-to-water intercooler, dual turbo wastegates, a number of modifications to the ECU, and a high-pressure air filter element. Performance times? Pretty ridiculous. Try 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds and the quarter mile in 9.9 seconds at 142 mph. Visual upgrades, as usual, have been kept at a minimal, with only a few Hennessey badges, numbered plaque signed by boss man Hennessey, and special floor mats. Official pricing for the upgrade kit hasn’t been announced.
