At this week's Zoomtopia 2022 conference, the online video conferencing brand announced that its services are coming to the center screen of a Tesla Model Y near you. Or a Model S, or a Model X. Zoom product manager Nitasha Walia says that the feature is coming to "all new Tesla Models soon."

We've seen other brands add similar features before, especially in EVs. Ford added a similar feature to the Mach-E via Zoom competitor Webex. Tesla hasn't really given prior indication of these plans, as it has no PR department anymore, though Musk has said in the past that virtual meeting software was a possibility in the brand's cars.

The video above was shown at the Zoomtopia conference and gives a brief demo of how consumers can expect the software to work when it rolls out. If you need to be on camera, Tesla's camera system, specifically the rear-facing camera above the rear-view mirror, will be used.

On top of that, the short video also shows that you'll be able to link to your calendar. That way your corporate overlords can ensure you never miss a meeting that definitely could've been an email. If said meeting absolutely cannot be missed, users will be able to enter the Zoom meeting right from the in-car calendar, eliminating the need to go fishing for an email invite.

That'll actually be more useful than it appears at first. Rather than scrolling through emails on the car rather than your phone, the in-calendar links should provide a much more user-friendly way to guarantee you're on time for the meeting. Of course, there's the "how" to consider.

Zoom's quick clip doesn't show how the meetings are broadcast into the car. For now, we're assuming that the car must be both stationary and connected to a network, as the car in the video looks to be in an office park, parked, and charging. However, Tesla does have a Premium Connectivity plan that would theoretically allow users to use the car's hotspot to take part in a Zoom call.

As of now, no release date for Zoom's integration into Tesla vehicles has been provided.
