China is facing a massive health crisis right now. At the time of writing, more than 100 people have died as a result of the coronavirus respiratory disease and more than 4,500 are infected. The situation is so serious that several cities are under quarantine. Public transport links have also been shut down in some cities to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.

With no access to public transport, people in affected cities will be relying heavily on their cars to get around. To help make their lives easier during this difficult time, Tesla is offering its Chinese customers free Supercharging for all vehicles including the Model 3, Model S, and Model X.

Photos shared by a Tesla owner show a notification that has been sent to Tesla's Chinese customers announcing that they will be able to charge their car for free at any Supercharger in China until the outbreak has passed.

"To make it easier for you to travel during the coronavirus outbreak, effective today we will temporarily open all Tesla vehicles to be free to charge at the Supercharging station until the epidemic is resolved," Tesla's announcement reads. "We hope that during this extraordinary period, you will be able to replenish electricity efficiently and use your car smoothly when needed."

"After the epidemic ceases, we will notify you again before resetting your vehicle to its original configuration. We hope to provide you with a modest effort so you can spend this time smoothly. Tesla reserves the right to make the final decision in this event."

It's a small gesture that could make a big difference to people affected by the outbreak. This isn't the only act of kindness Tesla has shown during a public emergency, either. Last year, the electric carmaker also provided free Supercharging to help victims affected by hurricane Dorian in Florida. In 2018, Tesla also provided free Supercharging to help people escape hurricane Florence in North and South Carolina.
