Tesla isn't a conventional car company, so when we learned that it was adding a feature that caused the car to emit a farting sound, we can't say we were totally surprised. Tesla calls this its "emissions testing" feature as a lighthearted jab at gas-powered vehicles, and although infantile, the feature has been a hit with owners.

The automaker has now released its latest round of festive season special features in a new update, but it seems that the fart function isn't working to the best of its ability for all users. One Model 3 owner can't get the feature to turn off, and now the funny flatulence won't stop.

The above video was posted to Reddit, where the Tesla driver announces that the farting noise is played every single time a door is opened, despite the feature being set to "off" for both turn signals and on-demand use. As you can imagine, this must be getting very frustrating and certainly won't do the owner any favors if they are looking to take someone out on a date. The owner mentions that theories on how this could have been triggered are scant, but that this is not an isolated issue as other users of Tesla forums have reported similar problems.

Teslas are regularly in the news for faulty software, and even when things are working as intended, the carmaker doesn't always come up with the best ideas. It recently was forced to admit that its rollout of a feature that would allow in-car gaming while on the move was not a particularly clever decision. Still, not all of the automaker's inventions and innovations are silly or stupid. A UK woman was recently convicted for keying a Model 3 after Tesla's sentry mode caught her in the act and captured her vehicle's license plate. More practical ideas and less novelty, please, Tesla.
