Tesla Motors has just announced a new plan designed to get more people into – any possibly out of – Model S sedans. The company is offering a "happiness guarantee" on leases of the car through US Bank, a cool deal which basically allows you to decide how happy you are with the car over the course of three months. The new leasing model also offers a substantially lower rate, whether you keep the car or not. Lease rates will now be lowered by up to 25 percent. So is this just a really cool weekend rental?

Announcing the new deal on the company Blog, Tesla Motors CEO, Elon Musk wrote: "If you don't like our car for any reason in the first three months, you can just return it and your remaining lease obligation is waived." To make sure that leasers don't use this opportunity as a 'software upgrade' option, Musk writes, "the only catch is that you can't then immediately lease another Model S. Upgrading early is no problem if you want to do that, but there is a pass-through fee to cover the new vs used value difference." Tesla leasing is currently available in 38 states.
