That was quick. It all started with a groundswell of interest from Tesla owners to quickly get Elon to bring over elements of full-self-drive to the US for less than the lofty costs of the full package. The Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) might have had similarities to semi-autonomous packages on Teslas dating back to 2017, but now the best features from the full FSD-tech are back complete with a price available in the Tesla app.

For half the cost of Full Self Drive (FSD), Tesla owners can now have slick new features updated over-air to their EVs. But this EAP tech appears to cost a bit more here than overseas markets and it's debatable if all the features are worth the $6,000 hit to say your low-budget $46,990 base Tesla Model 3 price.

Truth be told, one of the most intense capabilities of modern Teslas is the ability to 'summon' and self-park the EV. The often-gimmicky uses of such tech are overshadowed but how many owners can make use of it daily. But features like Autopark are only the tip as: Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Summon and Smart Summon are also available to owners now with the new EAP.

Once part of the full FSD with the staggering price of $12,000, the only missing pieces now are elements like street sign reading and self-drive within cities using full self-nav aren't available. For those wanting the semi-autonomous driving on highways and open roads but wanting more interaction with the control aspect of their own car, the $6,000 package will be tempting.

The Camera-based tech now allows the car to Autopark into tight spots after you hop out first to not scuff your loafers. Once parked, the Tesla can be summoned out of the spot up to around 200-feet away a bit closer to the entrance of your destination. And finally, the Smart Summon tech means the Tesla can be unmanned and follow you around, like a dog. One user reported his Tesla followed him around on a scenic walk for 10 miles, meaning they didn't have to walk back along the same path.

Reverse Summon isn't in this latest $6K EAP offering though. Unfortunately, this tech isn't yet released but the car will basically go find a parking spot itself. Say the parking lot is far or it's raining, drivers can opt to exit by the door, then they tell the Tesla to drive around in circles endlessly to find its own spot. What a life hack.

However, at $6K are paying nearly double what it cost Australian buyers (approx. $3,550). That part there kinda makes it a hard-pass unless the tech is fully resolved and stable to make the cost totally justified for you.
