Tesla has announced plans to end production of their Roadster sports car. This has been confirmed by the automaker's official filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Production will reportedly be concluded this December. While this move is a little surprising considering the upcoming Model S won't go on sale until mid-2012, the filing has also revealed that a new model will be unveiled later this year.
Called the Model X concept (for now), it will apparently be a crossover that will "incorporate the functionality of a minivan with the consumer appeal of a sports-utility vehicle." If all remains on schedule, the car will hit production in 2014. We're sure Tesla can't wait for Jeremy Clarkson to give it a test drive.
