It has begun. Chevrolet has just announced that shipments of the 2015 Corvette Z06 are now underway. As early as this week, customers could be called up by their local Chevy dealer to come pick up their brand spanking new Z06. Powered by a new LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that spits out 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, buyers have their choice between either a six-speed manual gearbox or a quick-shifting eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Thanks to the car's strong aluminum frame, the Z06 coupe even comes with a standard removable roof panel. Want a Z06 convertible? No problem, but you'll have to wait until nearly next year. Buyers had to throw down a minimum of $78,995 (including destination) for a new Z06 coupe. Of course, that doesn't include the Z07 Performance package. That's a must-have for some. The upcoming convertible will be priced from $83,995.
