The 2017 Audi TTS Coupe Is Missing Something It Rightfully Deserves

Review

It's really not hard to guess what it is.

Whether you like the way it looks or not, you have to admit the 2017 Audi TTS Coupe is a quality a machine. Look, it’s an Audi and when was the last time Audi built a complete piece of crap? During our time with this 2017 TTS Coupe, painted Sepang Blue Pearl and riding on a set of 20-inch wheels, we were immediately drawn to its so-called "TT-ness," meaning its distinctive, almost Avant-garde design. We dig it, and we also appreciate what’s under the hood: a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four making 292 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Is this the best engine Audi could’ve gone with? No, but that’s why the upcoming TT RS and its turbocharged 2.5-liter with 400 hp and 354 lb-ft of kick exists.

The turbo two banger still does the job well enough but in place of the standard six-speed dual-clutch (yes, you guessed right) the TTS is absolutely screaming for some row-your-own gears fun. If only Audi offered a six-speed manual then we’d be fully content with this third-gen TTS. There are lots of "if onlys" in this world. Special thanks to Niello Audi-Sacramento for letting us film the car.
