2022 Porsche Taycan GTS Revealed With 590 Horsepower

Reveal / Comments

The new EV super sedan slots neatly in between the 4S and Turbo.

The hardcore track-focused 718 Cayman GT4 RS wasn't the only new model Porsche debuted at the LA Auto Show. This is the 2022 Porsche Taycan GTS, the first Taycan with that three-letter badge. Traditionally, the GTS has offered a blend of performance, practicality, and comfort. Offered either as a sedan or a Sport Turismo, the Taycan GTS offers superior performance and sportier styling than the 4S, while tweaks to the suspension keep it just as refined for daily driving.

Power is sourced from the same dual electric motor setup as other Taycans. In the GTS, it produces 590 horsepower with launch control, slotting it in between the 4S and Turbo that generate 462 hp and 670 hp respectively. The sprint to 60 mph is achieved in just 3.5 seconds. Like the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S, the GTS uses a 93.4-kWh battery that can be charged from 5%-80% in 22.5 minutes at speeds of up to 270 kW. EPA range estimates are not available yet but we expect it will have less range than the 4S, which will go 227 miles on a single charge when equipped with the same 93.4-kWh battery.

Visually, the GTS borrows cues from the top-of-the-range Turbo, but there are a few key changes. Distinguishing the GTS are a SportDesign front fascia and side skirts, as well as high-gloss black side window trim. The rear diffuser features a high-gloss black inlay, GTS logos adorn the side skirts, and the rear badging is painted matte black. As standard, the Taycan GTS rides on 20-inch aero wheels with a unique satin-black finish. For a stealthier look, the Matrix headlights are tinted in black and the mirror caps are painted in the body color mixed with black. Although the suspension is derived from the Turbo, it's been tuned specifically for the GTS. The brakes are bigger too and Porsche's Electric Sport Sound is louder and deeper, resulting in a sportier soundtrack.

Inside, the GTS is equipped with a unique Race-Tex interior package that borrows elements from other GTS models. The front seats offer 18-way electric adjustability, memory functions, and GTS logos embroidered on the headrests. Brushed black aluminum trim adorns the door sill guards and interior trim and the roof lining and steering wheel are covered in more of Porsche's suede material.

An available GTS Interior Package adds either Carmine Red or Chalk stitching to the dashboard, doors, armrests, steering wheel, and seats with matching seat belts.

The more practical Taycan GTS Sport Turismo shares the same dimensions as the Taycan Cross Turismo, which means it offers 15.7 cubic feet of rear cargo space with the seats up and 42.8 cubic feet with the seats folded down, as well as a 2.9 cubic-foot front trunk. However, the GTS Sport Turismo is distinguished by its body-colored rear spoiler and lower ride height.

Pricing for the Taycan GTS sedan starts at $131,400, while the pricing for the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo will set you back at $133,300. Both prices exclude the $1,350 destination charge. Orders for the Taycan GTS and GTS Sport Turismo are now open, with deliveries starting in Q2, 2022.
