The autobahn is officially the greatest idea in human history.
The new Acura NSX has a top speed of 191 mph. We know this because Honda says so, not because we've seen video of the supercar going that fast. There are very few places where a speed that high can safely be hit anyway. Honda doesn't seem to be overly concerned with showing the world just how fast its new halo car can go. So how do we really know that the new NSX can hit 191 mph? Well, there's this video from German outlet Auto Bild showing the NSX doing 309 kph on the autobahn. Is that good enough?
In case you were wondering, 309 kph equals 192.004 mph. The video of the run isn't very epic as the camera is focused squarely on the road ahead, or the speedometer, at all times. Still, watching the NSX's speedo race up is pretty entertaining on its own.
The NSX has been rolling off the assembly line for a few months now and has been in the hands of journalists for even longer, and yet this is the first time we've seen someone push the hybrid to the limit. Hopefully this video encourages Honda to release a top speed run of its own. POV autobahn videos are cool and all, but Honda could probably put together something a lot more visually appealing, say out on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
