The All-New Jeep Compass Offers Choice Of 17 Powertrains

Reveal / 23 Comments

FCA just released the first few images of the all-new Jeep Compass, revealed at their Brazilian assembly plant.

We knew it was coming, but now we actually get to put a face to a name, so to speak, and it has quite a good-looking face too. There's not too much to go on with just three pictures and a very short press release being the only official information offered up by FCA, but there will be more detailed information available closer to the LA Auto Show in November. So making educated guesses, what can we see from the pics supplied? Well the red pic looks to be a more dedicated off road offering, complete with tow hooks.

This may well be it's Trailhawk package that will have other things added over the normal version, which could be the silver SUV. The compact SUV is built on the same platform shared with other FCA cars, like the new Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500X, so it will probably slot into the Jeep offerings between the smaller Renegade and the hefty Cherokee. This all-new Jeep Compass expands the brand's global reach, which is probably why so many powertrains are available (seventeen according to the release), which will allow the Compass to comply with the regulations of an assortment of countries.

The FCA release went on to say the new Jeep Compass "has an unmatched combination of attributes that includes legendary and best-in-class 4x4 off-road capability. advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, premium and authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of safety and advanced technology offerings." We like what we see so far, but as soon as any more pictures or information surfaces we'll be able to say whether it gets five stars or not. We think it will though.
