When it comes to hypercars, the modern collector is spoiled for choice. From established brands such as McLaren, all the way through to newcomers like Rimac, there are a surprising amount of ultra-high-performance machines on offer today. So what are you to do if the thought of driving a plain old Bugatti Chiron bores the living daylights out of you? You go for something even more exclusive of course.

The Apollo Automobil Intensa Emozione is one of the most unique, and most exclusive supercars around. The Apollo IE has been around for a few years now, but we still can't get over how great these cars look, and more importantly how amazing they sound. A highly exclusive 'Carbon Dragon' version has just landed on US shores, and it's breathtaking.

This unique example is number five of only ten cars being built and gets its name from its exposed carbon exterior, similar to the original concept. In a YouTube video posted by Miller Motorcars, we get to see this exotic beast take a few laps around the legendary Lime Rock Park circuit. What follows is one of the best-sounding engine and exhaust notes you'll ever get to hear, next to the howl of a Lamborghini V12 and the ferocious Lexus LFA's V10. As the IE races around Lime Rock, we get to experience a full symphony as the car races through its rev range, and there's a very good reason why this thing sounds so glorious.

Instead of going for the sensible, reliable, and effective twin-turbo V8, Apollo has stuck with a Ferrari-based naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter V12 engine that produces a massive 769 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque. All that anger is channeled through a fully bespoke exhaust system that leaves nothing to the imagination. Unfortunately getting your hand on one won't be easy, as there are extremely limited numbers available. If you get the chance, expect to pay up to $2.71 million for one.
