The Audi A8 Is In Desperate Need Of A Complete Redesign

Two reasons: the new 7 Series and S-Class.

The 2017 Audi A8's time is about to run out. Makes sense considering this generation, the third, launched way back in 2010. That's a long time in the auto industry and one look at its two main rivals, the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, shows the A8's (and the more powerful S8) age all the more. No worries though, a complete redesign is due next year but in the meantime we had the chance to check out the 2017 Audi A8 L 3.0T Quattro for today's video review. The exterior design?

Nice but kind of bland, especially since it looks way too much like other Audi sedans. The interior, however, is once again, a fine display of everything we love about Audi: outstanding build quality and lots of high-tech features. However, the new A4 is more technologically advanced than this A8.

Does this mean you should rule out the current A8 if you're in the market for a large uber luxury sedan? Of course not, because now could be the best time to buy one with dealerships needing to make way for its upcoming replacement. But for now, the 2017 Audi A8 continues to be an outstanding piece of automotive machinery. Special thanks to Niello Audi-Sacramento, part of the Niello Company, for letting us film the car.
