With the stunning BMW 8 Series Coupe now in production, the 8 Series line-up will soon expand with a Convertible, a Gran Coupe, and, eventually, a full-fat M8. Our spies recently caught the 8 Series Convertible without any camouflage, and now the 8 Series Gran Coupe has made its spy shot debut. Based on the 8 Series Coupe, the Gran Coupe has a noticeably longer platform and two more doors, offering more space for the back seats so rear-seat passengers can travel in greater comfort.

The Gran Coupe was already previewed by the M8 Gran Coupe concept at this year's Geneva Motor Show, and the prototype appears to retain the Coupe's sleek design lines. Its closest rival in the luxury sports sedan segment will, of course, be the Porsche Panamera.

Inside, expect the 8 Series Gran Coupe to pack BMW's latest infotainment technology including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 10.25-inch display and an extensive range of driver assists. In terms of powertrains, the 8 Series Gran Coupe will share the same twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 as its Coupe counterpart that produces 523 hp.

The range-topping M8 Gran Coupe is expected to inherit the new M5's twin-turbo 600-hp V8 and configurable all-wheel drive system, though some reports suggest the power output will increase to make the M8 BMW's new flagship M model. The production version of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is expected to go on sale inlate 2019 so we aren't expecting a reveal until next year, but the Convertible version should arrive before the end of the year.
