Unlike today's 3 Series, it's anything but douchey.
Thie original BMW 3 Series was perhaps the best 3 Series ever. Sure, BMW has evolved the model over the years, but every now and then a carmaker gets everything right the first time around. Many say that's exactly what happened with the E30. It’s up there with the Mazda MX-5 Miata as a true driver’s car, and perhaps it’s an even better choice. Having a backseat helps. It’s rear-wheel-drive and has a linear power band. The whole package just works, but there’s a downside: maintenance costs run ridiculously high.
The E30, like all Bimmers, requires a mechanic who knows what they’re doing. But these costs are well worth it. Check out Regular Car Reviews take on this 1991 E30 318i. It’s anything but douchey, which is what today’s 3 Series has sort of become.
