Auction house RM Sotheby's has listed the Carrera Collection for sale in a two-part auction that will take place in Switzerland and Italy, and the 72 cars included here are all spectacular. The first part of the collection, which will be offered in Switzerland, includes 48 cars and will take place on 7 July, while the second part of the collection crosses the block in Italy on 12 July.

Collectible Porsche 911 variants characterize both lots, but there are some highlights from other brands, including Mercedes and BMW, plus the occasional Italian classic, such as a 1969 Lancia Fulvia Coupe Rallye and a gorgeous 2010 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.

The collection includes two examples of the legend that started the Porsche RS dynasty, with two 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Tourings up for grabs. Other motorsport-inspired models include an epic 1995 Porsche 911 GT2 Evolution, a 2001 911 GT2, a 2011 911 GT2 RS, and a highly sought-after 2016 Porsche 911 R. A 1995 Carrera RS 3.8 (and another in Clubsport form) is joined by a 1992 911 Carrera RS.

Basically, this collection offers some of Porsche's greatest hits from the past 70 years in a single place. Whoever curated this selection of greats had a lot of love for high-performance Porsches, but when looking at other brands, they seemed to favor drop-tops (although there are a few Porsche convertibles here too).

The BMW Z8 appears to have been a particular favorite, with three regular examples and two Alpina Roadster V8s included. There's also a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, a 1969 280 SE Cabriolet, a 1975 280 SL, and a 1985 280 SL. The only modern Merc is a 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster. A few American cars made it into the lineup as well, with a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible and a pair of drop-top 'Vettes offered (a 1956 Corvette and a 1961 Corvette).

Interestingly, every single car is offered without reserve, which suggests that each is in fantastic condition and should attract high prices. If you're after a very cool car or two, we can think of no better collection to satisfy your need for either hardcore Porsche performance or comfortable convertible cruising.
