It's about time!
After seemingly endless delays and excuses, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia is finally in production. The first examples rolled off the production line at the FCA plant in Piedimonte San Germano, Italy, this week. The very first Giulia was a dark grey base model likely destined for Europe. Production of US Giulias won't begin until late in the second quarter. Of course the wait still isn't over for Americans! However, it will be worth it because the first Giulia that we get in the US will be the 530-horsepower QV version that will rival the BMW M3.
More affordable models with around 276 horsepower will later be offered. This is a huge milestone for FCA. The Giulia is riding on a new RWD platform that will underpin new Alfa Romeo models as well as future Dodge and Chrysler products. We may still have a bit of a wait ahead until we see the Giulia in US dealerships, but the fact that production has started is certainly good news.
