Yesterday's Chevrolet Corvette Z06 crash wasn't a pretty sight, we can all admit. Fortunately, it wasn't a customer car but an advanced pre-production prototype being driven by a GM employee. But today is a much better day. According to a report from StingrayForums.com, the first customer Z06 rolled off the production line yesterday at 9:26 AM. VIN 001 is a black Z06 that was bought by American NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick. As with all other Corvettes, assembly is taking place in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

We're told the Z06 production rate is just under seven units per hour. However, we don't know when these so-far-unsold Z06s will begin arriving in showrooms, but we can't imagine it'll be that much longer. Then the comparison tests can begin. What do you think will be the Z06's most formidable competitor? Let us know in the comments and poll ahead.
