The First Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has just sold for $825k

All proceeds from VIN0001 will go to charity.

It may just be the greatest production muscle car today, and someone was prepared to pay handsomely in order to have the first one off the line. The very first 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has just sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas, Nevada for $825,000. The suggested retail price is $59,995 (but dealers will likely charge markups to some extent). In the case of this particular auction, all proceeds will go directly to Opportunity Village, a Vegas-based non-profit organization that assists adults with disabilities.

No word as to who bought the car, but their generosity is being greatly rewarded with 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. And let’s not forget they also happen to now own Challenger SRT Hellcat numero uno, a guaranteed future collector’s car. Question is whether it’ll ever increase in value to at least $825k? Oh well, it’s all for charity after all.
