Before the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down, a new 2,000-horsepower EV hypercar was introduced on an almost daily basis. Most of these startups fell by the wayside, but Automobili Pininfarina managed to waver the storm, mostly due to the design side of the operation.

We don't need to tell you what Pininfarina is. It has a long list of clients, including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, GM, and Maserati, not to mention the operations dedicated to industrial, interior, architecture, and graphic design. Pininfarina SpA is publicly listed and is currently worth €64.8 million, which is roughly the same in American dollars.

The market worth is set to grow now that Automobili Pininfarina has opened its tenth retail partner, located in Dallas, Texas. More importantly, the first two Automobili Pininfarina Battistas will be delivered there shortly before being handed over to the first American customers. Production of this new hypercar started in July, which means the US is one of the first countries to get it.

One example is a bespoke Battista, while the second is the more exclusive Battista Anniversario.

"The team and I are very proud of Automobili Pininfarina's expansion in the US and the delivery of the first Battista cars Stateside," said Per Svantesson, Automobili Pininfarina CEO. "This symbolizes our creation of a new luxury electric car segment both in the US and globally. With a passionate collector receiving the first Battista in North America, we see tremendous confidence in this masterpiece of design and technology in this influential community. North America is a very special region for Automobili Pininfarina. The appetite in the community for peerless design and the demand for innovative electric luxury cars means that the majority of the 150 bespoke Battista we handcraft in Italy will be owned by US clients."

To ensure the Italian manufacturer reaches as many US customers as possible, the first-ever series production Battista will make an appearance at an exclusive customer event in New York state. The car will be used to showcase a new four-piece Battista Luggage Collection, which is making its global premiere at the event. The unique set is finished in tan leather with matching stitching and Triangolo quilting, echoing the interior design of the Villa d'Este 2021 award-winning Verde Paradiso Battista.

In case you need a reminder, each Battista is assembled by a team of 10 craftspeople and takes more than 1,250 hours to build as it moves through 14 production, paint, and quality assurance zones before leaving the atelier for delivery.

The car is powered by a 120-kilowatt-hour battery and four electric motors producing a massive 1,877 horsepower and 1,696 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60-mph sprint takes two seconds, and it can reach a top speed of over 217 mph.

Think of this as your weekend alternative to a Lucid Air Sapphire.

The first US car's spec is brilliant. It belongs to a private collector on the West Coast. This particular Battista features a silver and carbon fiber theme with red aluminum details. The exterior is finished in Argento Liquido, while the Carbon Accent Package adds exposed signature carbon fiber to a few exterior features like the side mirrors.

The roof is finished in Nero, and the customer opted for the Jewellery Pack in brushed aluminum painted in a bespoke vibrant red. Matching red brake calipers and center lock rings complement the Impulso wheel rims painted in Gloss Black.

The red interior upholstery is finished in chrome-free leather that is sustainably tanned by a supplier local to Automobili Pininfarina in Italy, using the leaves from regional olive tree harvesting. The bespoke key also has a stripe finished in the same red anodized brushed aluminum to match the interior aluminum detailing. We can't wait to see what other buyers choose.
