The Ford Ranger Is Getting More Expensive By The Day

We're getting Tesla vibes.

The state of global vehicle manufacturing and parts supplies has car prices going through the roof, and buyers can do nothing but watch as they steadily increase. We've seen manufacturers such as Tesla consistently raise prices on popular models such as the Model 3 and Model Y, and it would seem like Ford has jumped on the price bumping bandwagon. One look at Ford's configurator and it becomes clear that the company has been upping its prices across the board, with increases for the Ford F-150 coming into effect at the beginning of February, and now it seems like the 2022 Ford Ranger will also be seeing a price increase. This comes as Ford prepares the 2023 Ranger which will come with five trims and three engine options.

Ford has spent close to a billion dollars on its Ranger truck, which is massively popular outside the US, and the all-new 2023 Ranger Raptor promises to be a sales hit when it lands in the US, but for now, customers are going to have to swallow some bitter medicine.

If you've been on the Ford website recently, you might be left dumbstruck at the rapid pricing changes. Not only has Ford increased its pricing by $215 in the last few days, but it has also decided that transporting Ranger trucks to their new owners is more expensive, and has raised the destination fee by a staggering $100 for a total fee of $1,295. If this isn't bad enough, Ford has now doubled that $215 price increase to a notable $430.

The latest price increase makes the Ranger $165 more expensive than one of its closest and fiercest rivals, the base 2.5-liter Chevrolet Colorado Work Truck. The more comparable Colorado WT powered by the 3.6-liter V6 is $1,085 cheaper, so the price increase hasn't done Ford any favors.

For the time being, the Ford Ranger lineup starts off with the 4x2 XL SuperCab with a 6-foot box for $26,795, and the most expensive 4x2 on offer is the Lariat 4x2 SuperCrew 5 ft. box which goes for $37,060. The most affordable 4x4 model is the XL 4x4 SuperCab 6 ft. box at $30,650, and the most expensive is the Lariat 4x4 SuperCrew 5 ft. box at $40,760. Expect more packages and special editions to bolster the current generation as Ford prepares to launch the all-new 2023 Ranger.
