Genesis. A few years ago, most people would have thought you were quoting scripture if you mentioned that name, and not a luxury automaker from Korea. But with smash hits like the G90 impressing with stunning looks, sumptuous luxury, and plenty of tech, the brand is firmly cementing itself as a serious threat to more established companies. Now Genesis is preparing an assault against popular choices in the crossover segment like the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Audi Q5. So what's new? We got a good look at the new model last year but the one we saw was heavily camouflaged, whereas the latest spy shots give us a better look.

In the latest pics, we get a better view of the double split headlights, as well as confirmation that the unique exhaust tips seem to be making their way to final prototypes like the one pictured here. We also get an idea of what the taillights look like, and it seems that the renders we published seem to be pretty close to what we can expect of the real thing. If the renders are accurate, the GV70 will be a gorgeous SUV, which is exactly what any coupe-like crossover should be. BMW and Mercedes need to beware - this is probably going to be one of the prettiest school-run taxis on the road.

Genesis calls its design language "Athletic Elegance". Designers are known to come up with strange names for their individual styles - remember Chris Bangle's "Flame Surfacing"? - but in this case, it's pretty clear that the name of this design style fits perfectly. Design boss Lee Sang-Yeop says that "if the G80 has a 50:50 ratio of elegance and dynamics, the G70 has 70% dynamism and 30% elegance." Does this mean that the GV70's sportier styling could mean a hotted-up version to one day take on the BMW X3 M Competition? We'll have to wait and see, but one thing is certain: Korean cars are a brilliant revelation.
