You could go out and buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini if and when you strike it rich. Or, you could go and spend a bit of your impressive new bank account on something that's also exotic, fast, and sounds brilliant. We're talking about the Jaguar F-Type, specifically the F-Type S roadster. Yes, we know this is the mid-range F-Type in the lineup but we also think it's the ideal one to buy. For starters, that supercharged 3.0-liter V6 spits out a total of 380 glorious horsepower.

All of that power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. All-wheel drive is now available but hey, let's be purists here. Speaking of which, should you also opt for the six-speed manual instead? Yes, if you're a true die hard sports car person.

Rowing your own gears in a Jaguar is one of life's greatest pleasures. However, that eight-speed slushbox with paddle shifters is also excellent and doesn't detract from the overall driving experience. Another question is whether purists should check the options box for the supercharged 5.0-liter V8. With more than 500 hp on hand, this is, without question, one of the best engines on sale today in any car. Words almost can't describe how good it sounds. But here's the thing: it increases the weight on the already heavy F-Type. A 380 hp supercharged V6 offers (it's detuned to 340 ponies for base models), in our opinion, the best power-to-weight ratio of the F-Type lineup. Want to learn more?
