The Jeep Renegade Dawn Of Justice Is A Sad Attempt At A Batmobile

Special Edition

What superhero would drive this thing?

Superheroes, especially Batman, are known for having kickass cars to fight crime with. While compact crossovers are becoming more popular, we wouldn’t think those chosen to protect other individuals would opt to chase after criminals in one. That hasn’t stopped Jeep from creating a special edition of the Renegade for the upcoming film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The Renegade Dawn of Justice Special Edition was built to highlight the fact that Bruce Wayne (played by Ben Affleck) drives around in a Renegade in the movie.

While the Renegade is just a compact crossover, Affleck makes the vehicle look like quite an enjoyable car in the clip below.

In fact, the entire film is overrun with vehicles from FCA as the automaker has a partnership with the film’s production company, Warner Brothers. The movie will have everything from Jeeps, Chryslers, Dodges, Alfa Romeos, Fiats and Maseratis, which would make it a glorified commercial for the automaker. According to FCA chief marketing officer Olivier Francois, “The product integration was so organic to the filmmakers’ vision and storyline, all we had to do was incorporate scenes from the movie for our commercials.” We’re not quite sure what that says about the film, but the vehicle itself is just as much an advertisement for the movie.

The Dawn of Justice Special Edition Renegade is based on the Latitude 4X4 trim and features the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. The crossover can be finished in a bespoke color called Carbon Black or a lighter Granite Crystal with a gloss black roof. The blacked-out look continues with 18-inch wheels, black trim and an emblem that blends Batman and Superman’s logos. On the inside, there are cloth seats and gloss trim that are finished in black of course, with metal diamond accents on the door handles and gearshift as the only pieces that provide some contrast. After a $995 destination fee, the special edition retails for $27,245 and is available now.
