And you can watch it now.
Despite the fact that Koenigsegg unveiled both the Gemera four-seat hyper-GT and the Jesko Absolut - a car destined for 330 mph+ greatness - earlier this year, 2020 has officially been dubbed the year of the Koenigsegg Regera for the Swedish brand, with the hybrid hypercar ramping up production deliveries in spite of everything else the world has faced. In keeping with that theme, the halo car from the Swedish start-up will now be the star of a mini blockbuster film called Time to Reign. It's a fitting title since the Swedish word 'regera' means 'to reign', indicative of Koenigsegg's intentions for the machine.
The film, which has been scripted, cast, and produced exclusively by staff of Koenigsegg, in their spare time, is set to premiere today on YouTube, with none other than the Regera as the leading role. The film looks to have all the hallmarks of a classic, with the poster depicting guns, girls, and of course, fast cars. But with Christian von Koenigsegg appearing on the poster, we're left wondering whether or not he might make an appearance as the hero or the villain?
For those doubting the Regera's credentials as starring-role material, the carbon fiber chassis plays host to a mid-mounted 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 paired to three electric motors that develop a combined 1,489 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. But the magic isn't just in the hybrid nature of the Regera. It features the carmaker's unique Koenigsegg Direct Drive technology, enabling the manufacturer to save weight by removing the complexity of a gearbox altogether.
The incredibly unique machine is a true performer, too, capable of a 0-60 mph run of under 2.8 seconds, a top speed of 255 mph, and a record-breaking 0-249-0 mph run of just more than 31 seconds. These remarkable figures leave no doubt that the Regera is a performance king worthy of a starring role.
