The Last Good Car Mitsubishi Made Is Now Facing A Recall

Recall

This is why we can't have nice things, round two.

The last good thing Mitsubishi ever gave Americans, the final Lancer Evolution, is now facing a recall. The Japanese automaker issued a limited recall for 1,497 Lancer Evolutions and Ralliarts built through the majority of 2014. Here’s what’s wrong, according to Mitsubishi. "The affected turbocharged vehicles have a right parking brake cable that may contact the fuel tank, wearing away the tank's protective coating. Without the protective coating, the fuel tank may rust and leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.”

There have been no reported incidents so Evo owners don’t have anything to fear. Still, it kind of sucks that we won’t be getting any new Lancer Evolutions and some of the last ones we did get could possibly (small chance but still) catch on fire. Cool.
