MINI is prepping for their next generation Cooper but not before they give the current one a sweet sending off.
Mini is currently developing their next-generation line of Coopers. Before the new versions of their famous hatch come out, however, the British brand is planning on bringing out a true GP version of the current model. Spotted testing just outside the famed Nurburgring track in Germany, the possible GP version seen here features a Challenge racer-inspired rear diffuser, new front bumper and spoiler, lowered suspension and huge spoiler located on the rear of the roof.
The wheels the Cooper GP version is testing on resemble the original GP's, just with a bit of modern flair. As far as power goes, we can expect at least 220hp motivating the lighter-weight Mini Cooper GP. The top model from the last generation of Mini Coopers was the John Cooper Works GP. The model ran in a limited series of 2,000 units. The new Mini Cooper GP could follow suit with a limited run and we expect it to debut towards the end of this year.
