Later this month, McLaren will lift the wraps off a new hardcore version of the 570S, rumored to be called the 570LT. The strip tease has already begun, as the automaker previewed the new Sports Series range topper's top-exit exhausts this week. However, it turns out a prototype McLaren 570LT was spotted being tested several months ago without us realizing. A video uploaded by Salento V12 back in March shared by Motor1 shows a trio of McLarens parked up in the seaside town of Porto Cesareo, Italy.

It mainly focuses on the lightly camouflaged McLaren Senna hypercar as it leaves the parking lot, but there's also a 675LT and 570S parked next to it. The 570S clearly isn't stock and appears to be the mystery car McLaren has been teasing. The prototype has a pair of top-exist exhaust tips just like the car shown in the most recent teaser, albeit without the fancy finishers, while the rear deck has been largely carried over from the standard model. Also notice the transparent panel at the back of the prototype. Could this indicate the production-ready 570LT will have a new spoiler or perhaps a proper wing to generate more downforce?

It certainly seems likely, as the 570LT will be track-focused. Other expected upgrades include lighter wheels, reduced sound deadening, and a titanium exhaust. Extensive use of lightweight materials should make the 570LT significantly lighter than the 570S's 2,989-pound dry weight, too.

While the McLaren 570S is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 producing 562 hp, the 570LT's output is expected to increase to over 600 hp. That would explain why some reports are suggesting the new hardcore McLaren Sports Series could be called the 600LT, but nothing is official yet. All will be revealed on June 28 when the McLaren 570LT is revealed online ahead of its public debut at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
