Set to go on sale next spring, the upcoming Mercedes AMG GT may turn out to be the Porsche 911's worst nightmare. With the Mercedes SLS AMG now retired, this new high-performance flagship will be both smaller and lighter than its predecessor. Power is set to come from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with around 510 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. It'll be quite impressive, but now we're getting word that AMG wants to take things even further. Alongside the GT there'll also be the GTS.

And according to Paul Tan's car blog, it's the GTS that'll have the 510 hp output. The so-called "base" GT will produce 465 hp.

N/A

None of this has been confirmed just yet by AMG CEO Tobias Moers, but we wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this turns out to be true. We'll have our answer hopefully sometime this summer just ahead of the AMG GT's official debut at Paris in October. In the meantime, AMG has just released this new video explaining the GT's technological achievements.
