This really isn't at all surprising but we're thrilled nonetheless. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has just confirmed pretty much the obvious: the Aventador SV Roadster. The announcement was made last weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and, according to Winkelmann, "dealers worldwide are now taking orders." The Aventador SV Coupe will have a production run of 600 units. The SV Roadster, however, will see only 500 examples. Why is Lamborghini building 100 fewer SV Roadsters?

Because "all 600 units (of the Coupe) have been sold." Demand is that high so Lamborghini will make it even higher for the Roadster. Winkelmann told Top Gear that "the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce is the most pure, sports-oriented and emotional incarnation of a Lamborghini." Expect the Roadster variant to arrive sometime later this year or early next.
