If you earn the salary of a soccer player, you could feasibly buy every exotic supercar you've ever dreamed of owning. A list by luxury car financiers JBR Capital published by Motoring Research has revealed the top ten most popular cars owned by Premier League soccer stars in the UK, and while most of the supercar and luxury automakers you would expect to see make the list, the most popular choice may come as a surprise. No, it isn't a Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini – it's Land Rover's smallest Range Rover, the ever-popular Evoque.

Turns out even soccer players aren't immune to the crossover craze. It probably isn't a coincidence that the Evoque was co-designed by none other than Victoria Beckham, either. Costing around 30,000 GBP (around $40,000) in the UK, the relatively affordable Range Rover Evoque beat some of the predictable expensive exotics you would expect to see on a soccer player's car shopping list. According to JBR, the second most popular soccer players' car is the Lamborghini Aventador, followed by the Mercedes-Benz Onyx G6 GLE Coupe, Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, Lamborghini Huracan, and Jeep Wrangler Kahn Sahara.

Rounding off the list is the Porsche 911 GTS, Bentley Bentayga and McLaren 675LT Spider. Bizarrely, JBR Capital reports that soccer players often buy their cars on finance, despite their obscene wealth. "The highest-earning premiership players can bring in six-figure salaries each week and could buy many of the cars on this list easily without finance, Darren Selig, CEO and co-founder at JBR Capital explained. "But like regular motorists, it pays to be smart and they are increasingly savvy in their financial affairs. Footballers want the monthly cost of the loan to be as low as possible, so they can remain flexible," he continued.

They would rather spend large sums on investments such as property, and do not want to overextend their budget with outright purchases. They also generally run finance deals from two to four years, as these allow them the most flexibility." It may seem surprising to see the Range Rover Evoque SUV top the list considering the average salary for a UK soccer player is 2.4 million GBP (around $3.7 million), but let's face it, they earn more than enough to comfortably buy more than one car. If they're in the mood for something more refined, fancy going on a shopping spree, or need to do the school run, the luxurious Evoque would make an ideal daily driver for an image-conscious soccer player.
