It's no secret the BMW 7 Series has a pretty killer interior. It's a flagship luxury sedan. You practically can't bring one to market without a bunch of sweet new tech and comfy reclining seats. Of course, both the 7 and its electric BMW i7 twin have both in spades. There's even a rear TV that'll drop down out of the roof.

That big TV doesn't really amount to much without one thing: decent speakers. BMW turned to Bowers & Wilkins to make sure the speakers in the new 7 Series were more than just a set of crappy headphones you'd be just as likely to find on a coach flight to Philly.

In total, there's up to 18 of those Bowers & Wilkins speakers in the new 7 Series. Not quite as crazy as some, but clearly both brands went for quality over quantity, with the car's surround sound system delivering 655 watts of power. B&W says it carefully considered where the speakers would be placed to optimize the sound experience in the car. They don't look bad either, with stainless steel covers featuring a unique pattern. Those grilles also help deliver the best sound possible.

The surround sound system is comprised of five aluminum tweeters, four Continuum midrange speakers in the front and rear doors, and two dual-balanced woofers. You certainly won't need aftermarket subs in the trunk for this thing. If that's not enough, there's also an optional "Diamond Surround Sound System" with 36 total speakers and 1,965 watts of power. That comes with speakers in the headrests and roof, as well as eight shakers to help you feel the bass better. And yes, this system uses real diamonds.

B&W says the diamond domes are "carefully cultivated under laboratory conditions" in addition to being very light and extremely rigid. That results in a sound with incredible accuracy and little to no distortion. The subs also make use of two cones opposite each other that should reduce any unnecessary vibration and help provide coloration-free bass.

In sum, there's four different sound modes in both systems. Each features an audio demo mode that'll help show you what each can do. Just don't get the lesser system and then go sit in a car with the new one. You might realize you're missing out if you do.
