The New Hyundai Sonata Looks Better as a Coupe

Rendering

Too bad it'll likely never happen.

Compare the outgoing to the newly revealed 2015 Hyundai Sonata and you you'll probably agree the latter looks kind of bland. It’s not a bad-looking mid-size sedan by any means, but its predecessor was without question the boldest departure the South Korean automaker had ever made. Hyundai clearly opted for a safer and less dramatic redesign this time around, both inside and out, and perhaps it went a bit too conservative.

Rendering artist Theophilus Chin may just be on to something that could make the new Sonata a bit more attractive: a coupe version. A simple removal of the rear doors has, in our humble opinion, given the new Sonata the adrenaline dosage it needs. Clearly the chances of a Sonata Coupe are practically zero, but it’s still something we’d like to see happen.
