But you'll still get more horses than before.
The Toyota Land Cruiser is arguably one of the worst-kept secrets of 2021. Numerous leaks have made their way onto the internet, from an early design to the interior of the new 300-Series Land Cruiser. Then a couple of weeks ago we got a full frontal of the luxury off-roader. You'd think that a large corporation like Toyota would have found the source of these leaks and stopped them, but today we bring news of yet another. This time, it comes from an Instagram account dedicated to news on the vehicle, with the owner providing information on the powerplants that will be fitted along with their expected outputs.
According to the details given above, the V8 will no longer feature in the Land Cruiser, although it is expected to remain in the Lexus LX. In its place will be a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, an increase over the 2021 model's 401 hp and 381 lb-ft. Some markets will also have access to a 3.3-liter turbodiesel V6 developing 301 horses with an impressive 516 lb-ft. In addition, we could see a hybrid variant join the lineup although this has yet to be verified. What is confirmed in the next Instagram post is the new model's color palette as seen below.
Existing colors like Attitude Black and Glacier White will remain on offer and will be joined by four new colors: Moonlight Ocean Metallic, Avant-Garde Bronze Metallic, Pearl White Metallic, and Classic White. Of course, all of this may be moot as the Land Cruiser is not yet confirmed to be returning to the States, and even if it does, our market may not get the same color options as others. Either way, there's not much more left to leak on this vehicle, but that's okay because a full reveal is expected imminently. We'll bring you that story as it drops.
