It turns out that not all Mustang buyers are waiting for the totally redesigned 2015 model to hit showrooms; they like the outgoing Mustang just fine. Perhaps it's the styling. The solid rear axle. Or maybe it's just because they just know a good thing when they see it. Either way, Ford has just released sales numbers for this past month of the Mustang, and they're nothing short of impressive. A total of 9,305 Mustang sold last month, compared to 7,688 from March 2013.

That's a 21 percent increase. If that's not enough, this year's Mustang sales have so far totaled 19,596 units. Compare that three-month period to the same time last year, which totaled 17,320. And just for some further comparison, the Mustangs two longstanding rivals, the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, sold 8,624 and 4,882 units in March, respectively. Will this sales trend continue through the rest of 2014? Impossible to say right now, but we wouldn't be shocked to see Mustang sales slow slightly just before the new model arrives. But if you're looking to grab a great deal on a Mustang, now's the time. Ford is anxious to clear the lots.
