Pagani Huayra R's 9,000-RPM V12 Sounds Incredible Tearing Up Monza

Video / 3 Comments

A bespoke racecar engine sounds like F1 cars should.

Ferraris and Lamborghinis are considered exotic supercars, but we all know there are rarer breeds still. Pagani Automobili is one of the most exotic of them all, and builds cars that go beyond the definition of beauty, style and aggression. Many will remember the Zonda, and everyone is getting excited about the brand's new supercar which, according to reports, should show its face in September of 2022. In the meantime, there's one Pagani that continues to steal the show: the Huayra R, and in this video we get to see one shredding Monza racetrack to bits. This is what it's all about folks.

The Huayra R truly comes alive on track, and what better venue to unleash this beast than the "temple of Speed''. In the video, we get to see the Huayra R attack Monza from multiple angles, including a front cockpit, driver, and rear bumper shot. The camera gives the viewer a clear look at the track, but we love smaller details, such as the active rear aero that activates when the driver presses down on the brakes, or the driver's steering wheel control. The rear shot of the exhaust is mesmerizing too. The video is entertaining, but to be honest, we came for the engine and exhaust sounds. This has to be one of the best sounding cars of all time.

The Pagani Huayra R is powered by a masterpiece of an engine. This 6.0-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine is built by Mercedes-AMG subsidiary HWA, and produces 838 horsepower at a lofty 8,250 rpm, and 553 lb-ft of torque. It redlines at 9,000 rpms, too, making the experience even more special. Power is sent to the rear via a six-speed sequential gearbox. Only 30 of these cars have been built, and went on sale for around $3.1 million each. It's a supercar that's not allowed on the road, and was built to go fast and terrify small children, and for that, we love it.
