Last week's prestigious Pebble Beach event saw the surprise reveal of yet another Pagani Zonda. Nearly 20 years since it was first introduced, the mid-engined Italian supercar still refuses to die, but this could well be the very last model. Called the Zonda HP Barchetta, the supercar was built as a tailor-made present to the company's founder, Horacio Pagani, to celebrate his 60th birthday, as well as the 18th anniversary of the Zonda.

Limited to only three models, technical details were scarce at the time, but that didn't matter because we were too busy gazing at its beautiful hand-crafted body. However, Top Gear has been given the lowdown on the Zonda HP Barchetta's potent performance. As with every Zonda, it's powered by an AMG-sourced V12. In this case, it produces a whopping 789-horsepower – that's more powerful than a Huayra, and the same level of power as the bonkers Huayra BC. Presumably, this means Barchetta packs the same 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 AMG engine as the Huayra BC and 811 lb-ft of torque. Better still, the 6.0-liter V12 is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Top Gear has been told that the suspension mirrors the Huayra BC's setup too, featuring four-wheel independent double wishbones with adjustable Öhlins shocks, upper rocker arm with coil springs, and an anti-roll bar. It tips the scales at 1,250 kg, which is a fraction heavier than the ultra-light, 1,218 kg Huayra BC, but still results in blistering performance. Then there's the beefy brakes, featuring 380 mm ventilated discs. Six-piston calipers can be found at the front, while four-piston calipers are at the back. Other flourishes include contrasting wheels (the left wheels have gold inlays, while the right have blue inlays), a cropped windshield, and a fixed rear wing.

There's no folding roof either, in case you were wondering. Should this be the last ever Zonda (seriously, how many times have we heard that before?), the Zonda HP Barchetta is a fitting send-off to one of Italy's most enduring supercars.
