The Porsche Boxster Has Been Put On Notice: Extreme Abarth 124 Spider Confirmed

There will be a comfortable variant, as well.

We recently broughtyou news that Fiat was planning to create its own more powerfulversion of the Mazda MX-5. Alfredo Altavilla, Fiat Chrysler Group’s chiefoperating officer, has just spilled the beans and stated that there will be twoversions of the Fiat 124 Spider. “You likeperformance? There will be an Abarth version,” said Altavilla. To accompany thenews, we have a few renderings of what the extreme 124 Spider could look like.

Tohighlight the 124 Spider’s increase in power, the sporty roadster is seen witha wide mesh grille and the addition of large air vents in the bumper. To givethe Abarth variant an even more aggressive appearance, the renderings include acarbon-fiber splitter, multi-spoke Abarth wheels, lowered suspension, red brakecalipers and carbon fiber side skirts. There’sstill no word on what will power both of the Fiat’s interpretations of theMiata, but a de-tuned version of the same engine in the Alfa Romeo 4C is themost viable option. What do you think of the Abarth 124 Spider? If it lookedlike this would you pick it over an MX-5? Renderings courtesy of AutoExpress.
