We recently brought you news that Fiat was planning to create its own more powerful version of the Mazda MX-5. Alfredo Altavilla, Fiat Chrysler Group's chief operating officer, has just spilled the beans and stated that there will be two versions of the Fiat 124 Spider. "You like performance? There will be an Abarth version," said Altavilla. To accompany the news, we have a few renderings of what the extreme 124 Spider could look like.

To highlight the 124 Spider's increase in power, the sporty roadster is seen with a wide mesh grille and the addition of large air vents in the bumper. To give the Abarth variant an even more aggressive appearance, the renderings include a carbon-fiber splitter, multi-spoke Abarth wheels, lowered suspension, red brake calipers and carbon fiber side skirts. There's still no word on what will power both of the Fiat's interpretations of the Miata, but a de-tuned version of the same engine in the Alfa Romeo 4C is the most viable option. What do you think of the Abarth 124 Spider? If it looked like this would you pick it over an MX-5? Renderings courtesy of AutoExpress.
