The Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, Georgia just announced a new second driver development track that will open on April 1, 2023. Attendees of PEC could previously rent a Porsche sports car to drive around the 1.6-mile driver development track. This second track adds another 1.3 miles, nearly doubling the distance for 90-minute drive sessions. Porsche says the new track can be driven separately or in combination with the old track and it features elements from some of the world's most famous circuits.

Drivers who visit PEC will be led through four models. For instance, the Handling Circuit features a Carousel influenced by the Nurburgring Nordschleife and a 25-foot drop Corkscrew from Laguna Seca. There are even turns inspired by Tail of the Dragon in the Smoky Mountains, one of the best driving roads in the United States. Here drivers will learn about various techniques such as braking, driving lines, progressive steering, and proper vision.

On the Low Friction Circle, the instructors will teach drivers how to handle oversteer and understeer on a wet surface. There's also a new Ice Hill with an 8% slope to teach attendees what do to if they lose control and start sliding up or down. Finally, the paved autocross area further enforces driving techniques such as steering, lateral and longitudinal load changes, and vision.

"It's been a fulfilling journey to bring this track to life, with inspiration drawn from several iconic race tracks, such as the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Daytona, and Laguna Seca," said Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. "Intended to allow guests to take our sports cars to the next level, the track will offer even more dynamic driving than its sister track and serve as a new brand experience for the public."

As before, there is far more to do at PEC besides driving a sports car like the latest Porsche 911 GT3. Porsche will also add new models like the 911 GT3 RS and 718 GT4 RS later this year. The Experience Center also includes a classic car restoration center, a museum, driving simulators, a gift shop, and two restaurants.

Since it's just a few minutes away from one of the world's busiest airports, it's easy to stop in on a layover or stay overnight at the hotel across the street. PEC was fun before, but now there are twice as many reasons to check it out.
