It was in 1967 that Chevrolet began offering the L88 engine for the Corvette. Essentially a race engine, the 427 had an aluminum head, a more aggressive cam, 12.5:1 compression (!) and needed 103-octain fuel. It officially produced 430 horsepower, but the number was actually about 550. Only a little over 200 were ever built, so the car in this video is extremely rare and valuable, which is why it is also completely stock.

It runs an effortless 11-second quarter mile with no drama at all. What a shame there aren't more of them.
