Ford is really, really excited about the new Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R. The first one recently rolled off the assembly line, which means we should soon see customers shooting tons of footage at race tracks (and probably streets) across the country. Ford is stoking the flames with its latest proclamation, saying the GT350R is as fast around the Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan, as the manual-less Porsche 911 GT3. It's apparently one second faster than the Camaro Z/28.

You hear that, Porsche and Chevy fanboys? Another tasty detail concerns those kickass carbon fiber wheels. They weigh in at just 18 pounds, whereas the stock wheels come in at 33 pounds. Unfortunately only the GT350R will get these wheels. That sucks, but the Shelby GT350 does get backseats, A/C and a radio. Still, the big news is that the GT350R is as fast as the 911 GT3 around one track. If that's not something to boast about then we don't know what is.
