A new company called Toro Bravo 4x4 has revealed renderings for its first model called the 2023 Silver Spear. This recreational vehicle is based on the Crew Cab chassis from the 2023 Ford F-550 Super Duty, but customers can also select a Chevrolet 5500 or Ram 5500 work truck as the base.

Although the Silver Spear is not on sale yet, pre-orders are currently open with a $100 founder's deposit; the starting price will be in the mid-to-low $200,000s. For that price, customers receive a truck with a reflective, aluminum-skinned modular box design on the back containing a 3D-printed interior that's customized for each individual owner. Since the Silver Spear uses a heavy duty truck as a base, it can also tow a boat, ATVs, or other toys.

A dedicated RV might have more living space, but the Silver Spear can reach more places thanks it its rugged truck underpinnings. It includes standard four-wheel-drive with 40-inch tires rated up to 81 mph.

"The mission of Toro Bravo 4x4 is to design an approachable and affordable multi-purpose overlander vehicle that can serve a myriad of functions," said Toro Bravo Founder Jeff Rohrer. "With the introduction of our first model, the Silver Spear, owners have the unique ability to swap out their work tools in minutes for their favorite outdoor weekend toys and hit the road. Where the road ends for most RVs is where the road begins for Silver Spear."

Engineering studio PROTOTYP3 designed the interior with available features such as recess lighting, 3D-printed cabinetry, removable kitchen cooktop, permanent sink counter, bunk beds, and bedside storage. The cabin accommodates a queen-sized bed and two fold-down bunk beds, both of which can be removed for storage.

The Silver Spear is designed to be lived out of with a wet bath and kitchen sink, both supplied by a 60-gallon fresh water tank and 30-gallon gray water reservoir with a propane water heater. The two-burner propane powered stove and 25-gallon Dual-Zone powered cooler can be wheeled outside for outdoor cooking.

Owners can access the box via a side door or the cantilever rear ramp. This configuration allows easy loading of work equipment and activity vehicles. The ramp can also be positioned at 90 degrees to be used as an outdoor table, cook station, porch, or workbench. Other exterior optional features include storage boxes, a pass-thru gear tunnel, air conditioning, sky light, and solar panels.
