The Tesla Cybertruck which is set to be built in Austin Texas has been causing quite the stir in the motoring scene with its divisive styling, and claims from Telsa CEO that it can even float on water, but with over 600,000 orders already placed, it seems that this truck is set to be a major success for the California-based EV producer. Those who have placed there orders have not seemed phased by the fact that the Cybertruck only comes in one color which is natural steel, but upon inquest over twitter, we have discovered that, according to Elon Musk, the Cybertruck's steel body will be able to change color by heating and cooling the shell.

When Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck we learned that the body will be made out of exposed steel, which helps prevent dents and corrosion, but doesn't exactly leave customers with many paint color options, and those who want something different would have to go down the wrapping route. Mr. Musk had hinted that the truck would be available in different colors such as matte black, but nothing has been confirmed until now. In a recent exchange of tweets, Musk revealed that it wouldn't be impossible to permanently change the color of the Cybertruck.

The natural properties of steel lend itself to color change when exposed to certain temperatures which means the Cybertruck could change color under the right circumstances, according to Musk. Twitter user Ghost of Tesla Phx sent a tweet to the CEO asking if white oxide would be an option to which he replied "not impossible". What is still unclear is whether this could be offered by Tesla as a standard choice from the factory, or if it would have to be done in the aftermarket. Tesla plans on launching the Cybertruck late in 2021, and we hope to see it in something other than bare steel.
