The new Roadster stole the spotlight during the reveal of the Tesla Semi with its mind-blowing performance figures. Tesla claimed the new Roadster is the new world's fastest production car with a staggering 0-62 mph time of 1.9 seconds and a top speed exceeding 250 mph. It seemed hard to believe, until we saw videos emerge online of people experiencing its astonishing acceleration first-hand. That shouldn't overshadow the Tesla Semi's capabilities, though. It can do 0-62 mph in just five seconds unloaded, which is unheard of in a truck.

And now a video has emerged showing the Tesla Semi accelerate from a standstill, and it's scarily fast. We know, truckers aren't looking for performance when buying a big rig, but it's hard not to watch in awe – trust us, you've never seen a big rig move like this.

Granted, the quality of the video isn't great, but you can still get a good sense of the speed that the Tesla Semi is capable of. Exactly how quickly the Tesla Semi sprinted off the line in the video isn't known, but within just a few seconds it's already moved several hundred feet and disappeared into the sunset while sounding otherworldly. Given that the test was done in a closed area with people and cars, it probably wasn't reaching its potential either. This rapid acceleration is achieved with the help of four independent motors powered by a battery that will last 500 miles on a single charge. A cheaper model will also be available with a 300-mile range.
